Los nuevos equipos tienen acceso al portal de contenidos Toshiba Places. Destacando aquí Music Place, que tiene un amplio catalogo y que permite descargar canciones, oírlas online, almacenar sus propias colecciones en la “nube" y sincronizarlas con el resto de sus dispositivos vía Internet.
Toshiba lanzará una nueva gama de mini-portátiles, que incluye los modelos NB520 y NB500 que estará disponible en Europa durante el primer trimestre de 2011.
NB520 es el primer mini portátil que incorpora altavoces y tecnologías de sonido de gama alta. Toshiba ha montado dos altavoces Harman/Kardon de 2 vatios de potencia y soporte Dolby Advanced Audio en un equipo de 10,1", 1,6 cm de grosor y 1,32 kg.
NB520 dispone además de la tecnología Sleep and Music, para conectar y oír la música almacenada en un MP3 sin necesidad de encender el PC.
Según un estudio de mercado de Toshiba sobre hábitos de uso con estos equipos, el 81,4% de los usuarios cree que es importante que tengan un buen sonido; el 66% usa sus altavoces para ver películas o escuchar música cuando están solos en casa y el 40% hace esto mismo con sus amigos.
El NB500 está pensado para aquellos que quieren un dispositivo pequeño, móvil y que cumpla las necesidades informáticas básicas. Comparte con el anterior su peso, dimensiones y la mayoría de características informáticas. Tiene un Intel Atom N455, 1GB de RAM, ampliable a 2GB, 250 GB de disco duro, 3 USB, un lector de tarjetas 2 en 1, LAN y WiFi b/g/n.

Presentan los diez principales desastres de perdida de datos
Esta lista de desastres de pérdidas de datos pone de manifiesto que pueden producirse en cualquier momento, en cualquier lugar y por diversas causas.
Kroll Ontrack anunció su lista de los 10 principales desastre de pérdida de datos de 2010. Mediante el uso de las herramientas y los procesos de recuperación de discos duros, los ingenieros de Ontrack Data Recovery han ayudado a sus clientes a recuperar sus datos como consecuencia de los desastre de pérdida de datos acaecidos durante el 2010. En casi la totalidad de los casos, la recuperación fue exitosa.
Los 10 peores desastres de pérdida de datos de 2010
10. Una clavija cuadrada en un agujero redondo.
Cuando la batería del portátil de un novato de agotó, él buscó detrás de su mesa, cogió lo que pensó que era el cable cargador del portátil y lo conectó. Desgraciadamente, se trató del cable de otro dispositivo y quemó su portátil.
9. Doble recuperación de datos.
Un cliente solicitó la restauración de varias cintas de archivo y entonces el equipo de Kroll Ontrack Tape Services realizó con prontitud la restauración y le entregó seis HDDs externos. La compañía del cliente intentó hacer una copia de seguridad en otros seis HDDs y guardó estos HDDs en un lugar protegido contra incendios. Empezaron a usar los datos que necesitaban desde las copias de seguridad de los HDDs, pero desafortunadamente, alguien sobre escribió alguno de los datos." No hay qué preocuparse" pensaron. “Debemos sencillamente usar los HDDs de Kroll Ontrack". Sin embargo, cuando esos HDDs fueron conectados, descubrieron que en lugar de copiar los datos, lo que en realidad habían hecho era mover los datos, y no había nada en los HHDs. Afortunadamente, Kroll Ontrack todavía tenía las cintas originales y pudo recuperar todos los datos por según vez.
8. Mantener vivo el recuerdo de una familia.
Una mujer que visitaba a su padre para ayudar en su tratamiento médico fue víctima de un ladrón, que entró en la habitación donde la visita tenía sus pertenencias y robó el portátil que en su día perteneció al padre de la mujer. Desgraciadamente, esta mujer recientemente había perdido a su hija a causa de un cáncer. La noticia del robo se propagó inmediatamente, lo que conllevó una rápida detención y la recuperación del portátil robado. Sin embargo, el disco duro fue borrado. Kroll Ontrack contactó a la familia para ayudar y fue capaz de recuperar el 90 % de las únicas fotos de la hija fallecida.
7. Contacta a los expertos.
Un disco duro llegó al laboratorio de Ontrack Data Recovery desde una carnicería, enviada desde Styrofoam, con restos de un delicioso jamón curado. Después de desengrasar cuidadosamente la caja, el disco duro fue enviado a la cámara limpia con probables daños mecánicos. Afortunadamente, todos los datos fueron recuperados, en parte debido al hecho de que el cliente cumplió los consejos de Ontrack Data Recovery de mantener el disco duro tal como estaba y protegerlo adecuadamente para el envío.
6. En el aíre.
Un viajante habitual estaba disfrutando de un café expresso mientras esperaba su vuelo. Dejó su portátil en el suelo del bar y lo dejó olvidado. La policía del aeropuerto fue avisada sobre el inesperado maletín y, mientras el viajante estaba en su avión, el portátil fue explosionado para garantizar que no fuera una amenaza para la seguridad.
5. El cinturón de seguridad.
Una mujer de negocios, que llegaba tarde al trabajo, puso su maletín en el techo de su coche, mientras encajaba su café en el soporte para tazas y a su hijo en su asiento del coche. Deseosa de arrancar, la mujer se ajustó el cinturón de seguridad y rápidamente salió de su garaje, enviando su maletín, con el portátil dentro, al suelo justo a tiempo para que las ruedas delanteras del coche lo aplastaran.
4. Portátil caseta.
Una mujer dejó cargando su MAC en el suelo de su casa durante unas pocas horas. Al volver, descubrió un líquido en el teclado y una tímida gatita jugando en la esquina. Tras posteriores investigaciones, el portátil había sido manchado por orina de gato.
3. Abogado para África.
Un hombre dejó su trabajo y cumplió su sueño de viajar a África para fotografiar la pobreza. Después de pasar varios meses tomando fotografías, regresó a Europa para desarrollar y vender las fotos, para llamar la atención sobre la necesidad de ayuda humanitaria para África. Se produjo un lamentable fuego en su apartamento, pero por suerte los bomberos consiguieron hacerse con el IMAC antes de que se quemara. Pero mientras descendían por la escalera de incendios, el IMAC se calló. Después de dos accidentes devastadores, los ingenieros de Ontrack fueron capaces de recuperar el 100 por ciento de las fotografías.
2. Las hormigas van marchando.
Una inundación en Alemania provocó que un ordenador estuvo sumergido en un río y en agua de lluvia durante más de dos días. El agua de la inundación no fue el único problema del disco duro. Cuando el disco duro llegó a la sala limpia de Ontrack Data Recovery, una hormiga, que para evitar ahogarse en la inundación, fue encontrada colgando de la cabeza del disco duro. Relajado en una playa, un señor se llevó su portátil en sus vacaciones para estar al día de sus e-mails. Cuando las temperaturas comenzaron a elevarse a mediodía, decidió ir a nadar. Al estar un poco preocupado de dejar su portátil desatendido, lo metió en una bolsa de plástico para que no se mojara y se fue a dar un baño. La bolsa no fue tan duradera como había esperado y el portátil se empapó y perdió sus datos.

Kroll Ontrack anunció su lista de los 10 principales desastre de pérdida de datos de 2010. Mediante el uso de las herramientas y los procesos de recuperación de discos duros, los ingenieros de Ontrack Data Recovery han ayudado a sus clientes a recuperar sus datos como consecuencia de los desastre de pérdida de datos acaecidos durante el 2010. En casi la totalidad de los casos, la recuperación fue exitosa.

10. Una clavija cuadrada en un agujero redondo.
Cuando la batería del portátil de un novato de agotó, él buscó detrás de su mesa, cogió lo que pensó que era el cable cargador del portátil y lo conectó. Desgraciadamente, se trató del cable de otro dispositivo y quemó su portátil.
9. Doble recuperación de datos.
Un cliente solicitó la restauración de varias cintas de archivo y entonces el equipo de Kroll Ontrack Tape Services realizó con prontitud la restauración y le entregó seis HDDs externos. La compañía del cliente intentó hacer una copia de seguridad en otros seis HDDs y guardó estos HDDs en un lugar protegido contra incendios. Empezaron a usar los datos que necesitaban desde las copias de seguridad de los HDDs, pero desafortunadamente, alguien sobre escribió alguno de los datos." No hay qué preocuparse" pensaron. “Debemos sencillamente usar los HDDs de Kroll Ontrack". Sin embargo, cuando esos HDDs fueron conectados, descubrieron que en lugar de copiar los datos, lo que en realidad habían hecho era mover los datos, y no había nada en los HHDs. Afortunadamente, Kroll Ontrack todavía tenía las cintas originales y pudo recuperar todos los datos por según vez.
8. Mantener vivo el recuerdo de una familia.
Una mujer que visitaba a su padre para ayudar en su tratamiento médico fue víctima de un ladrón, que entró en la habitación donde la visita tenía sus pertenencias y robó el portátil que en su día perteneció al padre de la mujer. Desgraciadamente, esta mujer recientemente había perdido a su hija a causa de un cáncer. 7. Contacta a los expertos.
Un disco duro llegó al laboratorio de Ontrack Data Recovery desde una carnicería, enviada desde Styrofoam, con restos de un delicioso jamón curado. Después de desengrasar cuidadosamente la caja, el disco duro fue enviado a la cámara limpia con probables daños mecánicos. Deseosa de arrancar, la mujer se ajustó el cinturón de seguridad y rápidamente salió de su garaje, enviando su maletín, con el portátil dentro, al suelo justo a tiempo para que las ruedas delanteras del coche lo aplastaran.
4. Portátil caseta.
Una mujer dejó cargando su MAC en el suelo de su casa durante unas pocas horas. Al volver, descubrió un líquido en el teclado y una tímida gatita jugando en la esquina. Tras posteriores investigaciones, el portátil había sido manchado por orina de gato.

Un hombre dejó su trabajo y cumplió su sueño de viajar a África para fotografiar la pobreza. Una inundación en Alemania provocó que un ordenador estuvo sumergido en un río y en agua de lluvia durante más de dos días. El agua de la inundación no fue el único problema del disco duro. Cuando el disco duro llegó a la sala limpia de Ontrack Data Recovery, una hormiga, que para evitar ahogarse en la inundación, fue encontrada colgando de la cabeza del disco duro. La empresa presenta los acontecimientos más relevantes en materia de Seguridad Informática durante este año.
Los especialistas del Laboratorio de Análisis e Investigación de ESET presentan los hechos más relevantes en materia de códigos maliciosos que afectaron el mundo digital de los usuarios.
Ataques dirigidos
Se destacan dos hechos relevantes relacionados a ataques dirigidos. Uno de ellos, ocurrido a pocos días de comenzar el año, se dio a conocer con el nombre de “Operación Aurora" y tuvo como objetivo robar información de propiedad intelectual a grandes empresas tecnológicas, entre las que estuvo incluida Google. El ataque consistió en el envío de correos electrónicos maliciosos dirigidos a personas con altos cargos dentro de las compañías afectadas. Durante el proceso de infección se intentaba explotar en el sistema de la víctima una vulnerabilidad del tipo 0-day en Internet Explorer, a través de técnicas de Drive-by-Download.
El otro ataque dirigido destacado tuvo como protagonista al gusano Stuxnet. En este caso, el código malicioso, diseñado para causar daño en sistemas SCADA y especialmente a dos productos de la empresa Siemens, utilizaba diversas vulnerabilidades 0-day en Windows para propagarse por todo el mundo. Esta amenaza logró infectar 45.000 sistemas de control industrial.
Redes botnet
Las redes botnet también han ocupado un lugar destacado en este 2010. Zeus, el panel de administración de botnet más utilizado en todo el mundo, ha tenido diversas apariciones a lo largo del año vinculadas al robo de información de credenciales bancarias. A su vez, esta botnet ha estado asociada a muchos de los códigos maliciosos más populares del año, como por ejemplo, Koobface.
Cabe destacar que Zeus recobró protagonismo en los últimos meses ya que su autor anunció el fin del desarrollo del mismo y su posible fusión con SpyEye, otro crimeware similar también especializado en el robo de información bancaria.
La persecución a administradores de botnet y criminales asociados a este negocio delictivo es una práctica que se desarrolló intensamente durante el año. Al inicio del 2010 se realizó el desmantelamiento - proceso para dar de baja las redes, conocido en inglés como takedown - de dos importantes redes “Mariposa" y “Waledac". Mientras que en el segundo semestre se observó en Holanda el desmantelamiento de “Bredolab", otra importante red que durante dos años infectó más de 30 millones de sistemas, aunque algunos indicios aún permiten identificar actividad de nuevas variantes de este troyano. A su vez, aunque no pudo ser desmantelada, fueron dados de baja algunos de los centros de comando y control de Koobface, lo cual permitió conocer detalles de su funcionamiento.
Finalmente, se destacaron el uso de las tecnologías para administrar botnet desde Twitter. Durante este año, en dos oportunidades, se alertó sobre la existencia de aplicaciones maliciosas que posibilitan la generación de malware para la creación de zombies administradas a través de Twitter.
Otras amenazas destacadas
Finalizando el resumen de las amenazas más importantes del 2010, resulta importante destacar la continuidad del gusano Conficker, infectando organizaciones a lo largo de todo el mundo. El gusano, que surgió en el año 2008, aún sigue en funcionamiento y con tasas de infección muy elevadas.
A su vez se han detectado amenazas para sistemas operativos Mac OS, plataforma que ha sufrido algunos incidentes asociados a troyanos informáticos y que también han sido propagados en Linux.
Por otra parte, se han identificado nuevas variantes de malware para dispositivos móviles, especialmente para los sistemas operativos en crecimiento, como es el caso de Android que este año tuvo su primer troyano SMS, por el cual los usuarios infectados enviaban mensajes de texto a números pagos, generando así una pérdida económica para la víctima.

Sophos ha publicado una lista del malware que más ha circulado en los sistemas para Mac.
Sophos lanzó a principios de este mes un antivirus gratuito para Mac, el producto ha conseguido más de 150.000 usuarios activos, por lo que Sophos ha analizado el malware más común que está afectando a los ordenadores Mac, según los informes de sus usuarios.
Así, el top 20 del malware más común detectado procedente de 50.000 informes de malware de los usuarios de Sophos Antivirus para Mac Home Edition entre el 2 y 16 de noviembre:
- Mal/ASFDldr-A 4.62%.
- Troj/Javadl-V 3.67%.
- Mal/JavaKC-G 2.96%.
- Mal/JavaKC-E 2.36%.

McAfee advierte sobre los 12 timos de navidad
Sophos advierte a los usuarios de que la noticia del compromiso del príncipe Guillermo y Kate Middleton ya está siendo explotada por los cibercriminales.
La búsqueda en Internet de los términos “Kate Middleton + William" ofrece muchos resultados con noticias e imágenes reales, pero Sophos informa de que algunos resultados están llevando a sitios web fraudulentos que ofrecen al visitante falsos antivirus.
“Ya hemos visto este tipo de actuación con otras noticias de interés", declara Graham Cluley, Consultor de Tecnología de Sophos. “Los ciberdelincuentes se aprovechan de las búsquedas populares para dirigir a los usuarios a webs falsas de seguridad, y les engañan para que den los datos de sus tarjetas de crédito o para que realicen descargas de software que ponen en peligro sus ordenadores".
Sophos advierte a los usuarios de que las estafas de este tipo tienen mucho éxito y generan ingresos para los atacantes de forma rápida. Los criminales tratarán de convencer al usuario de que su equipo está en peligro, y le engañará con descargas de software falso. Una vez que el equipo esté infectado con un falso antivirus, el software seguirá bombardeándole con mensajes de advertencia y le animará a pagar para eliminar las amenazas.
“La gente no se debe distraer con las fotos de la feliz pareja y hacer clic en los enlaces", continúa Cluley. “Tenemos que estar en guardia cuando realicemos una navegación por sitios desconocidos o poco fiables".

Una vez ejecutado, App Hide reside en el área de notificación. Cuando desees ocultar una ventana, usa el atajo y ésta desaparecerá del Escritorio, de la barra de tareas e incluso de la lista de Alt+Tab.
¿Quieres volver a verla? Haz clic con el botón derecho del ratón sobre el icono de App Hide (el pequeño paraguas rojo) y elige el título de la ventana. Si cerraras App Hide, todas volverían a ser visibles al mismo tiempo.
App Hide es la sencillez hecha programa, una herramienta que lleva a cabo una sola función, la de ocultar programas. Con todo, nos gustaría ver más funciones, como el minimizado al cerrar o atajos para recuperar las ventanas.

El argumento de muchas aventuras gráficas tiene casi siempre tres ingredientes: artefactos misteriosos, conspiraciones y lugares exóticos. Si este plato se aliña con muchos nazis, un clon de Indiana Jones y viajes en abundancia, el resultado, aun sin ser original, será del agrado de muchos.
Lost Horizon, último esfuerzo de la casa alemana Deep Silver, pertenece a este género de aventuras pulp, repletas de antiguallas peligrosas y aventuras. Fenton Paddock, el protagonista, es el arquetipo del granuja: chaqueta de aviador, maneras chulescas y un físico perfecto. Al otro lado de Lost Horizon, los antagonistas de siempre, en eterna búsqueda de un atajo hacia el dominio mundial.
Tras el prólogo de rigor, Lost Horizon nos introduce en una serie de escenarios magníficamente presentados; los fondos 2D quitan el hipo y la música contribuye a enriquecer la variada ambientación del juego. No ocurre lo mismo con los gráficos 3D de Lost Horizon, anclados todavía en el siglo pasado. ¿Y los diálogos? Excelentes, aunque no han sido traducidos al español.
Si tienes ganas de jugar una aventura al viejo estilo, Lost Horizon te encantará. Sus requisitos son bajos y se ejecuta con fluidez en casi cualquier máquina. Ahora bien, no esperes un clásico de la talla de Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis: en Lost Horizon, los puzles son sencillos y -lo peor de todo- nos suenan de otras aventuras.

La novedad más llamativa de FIFA 11 es el control del portero. Te anticipamos que su manejo es complicado, pero que añade una dimensión nueva a las partidas multijugador, disponibles en modalidad de 11 contra 11 por primera vez en la historia de los simuladores futbolísticos.
Casi todo se ha vuelto personalizable, desde los cánticos de la hinchada hasta los estadios, que ahora se pueden editar desde el juego. Por supuesto, el plato fuerte de FIFA 11 sigue ahí: son las más de 30 ligas oficiales, 500 equipos y 15.000 jugadores con licencia.
Gráficos, animaciones e inteligencia artificial han alcanzado en FIFA 11 un nivel de calidad altísimo. El fútbol que se juega tiene un sabor real. De hecho, el nuevo sistema de penalties de FIFA 11, mucho más difícil, frustrará a más de un jugador, y lo mismo ocurre con las faltas por tocar el balón con las manos.
FIFA 11 tiene más ases en la manga: modo Carrera, en el que encarnarás a un jugador, un entrenador o un manager durante quince temporadas; el nuevo sistema de pases, llamado Pro Passing; y Personality+, una base de datos de comportamientos de los jugadores.
¿Será FIFA 11 el máximo anotador de esta temporada? No lo sabemos. De lo que sí estamos seguros es que nos hallamos uno de los juegos de fútbol más realistas y divertidos de todos los tiempos.

Fists of Fu es un nuevo título gratuito de origen asiático que promete hacernos pasar buenos ratos en compañía de otros jugadores, aniquilando las más variadas criaturas que salgan a nuestro paso.
El género de Fists of Fu es una mezcla entre rol y acción con scroll lateral, y está ambientado en la antigua china. Encarnando uno de los cinco tipos de personaje (luchador, maga, arquero...) habrás de ir superando misiones para conseguir experiencia, dinero y equipamiento que te convierta en el mejor guerrero.
Como puedes ver, técnicamente Fists of Fu no sobresale pero cumple sobradamente. Es un juego colorido, de personajes monos y simpáticos y con algunos artificios llamativos, sobre todo en los golpes. La música y efectos de sonido tampoco destacan pero ambientan.
La mecánica en Fists of Fu está más cerca de un beat\'em up, aunque los objetos y experiencia otorgan cierto grado de estrategia. Algunas misiones es recomendable llevarlas a cabo en grupo, experiencia que es divertida pero no tan satisfactoria como en otros juegos.
En definitiva, Fists of Fu es un divertimento efectivo pero pasajero, de buen acabado técnico e interesante mezcolanza de géneros. Te gustará, sobre todo, si la estética y la jugabilidad directa son lo tuyo.

SDelete es una utilidad gratuita que borra archivos de forma segura, haciendo imposible su recuperación. Se ejecuta en línea de comandos, siendo un sustituto interesante para el tradicional comando delete.
El uso de SDelete es bien sencillo. Por defecto, escribir sdelete nombrefichero.ext aplicará un borrado seguro de 1 pase con el algoritmo DOD 5220.22-M, famoso por ser el que usa actualmente el Departamento de Defensa de los EEUU.
Algunos parámetros permiten modificar ligeramente el comportamiento de SDelete. Así, por ejemplo, el modificador -p especifica un número distinto de pases, mientras que -s borra archivos en los subdirectorios de la carpeta indicada.
Muy interesantes son las opciones -c y -z, con las cuales SDelete llena el espacio libre con ceros o lo limpia de restos de información.
Práctico y bien documentado, SDelete es un accesorio ideal para la línea de comandos. Para sacarle todo el partido, te recomendamos que copies el ejecutable en la carpeta de sistema; de esta forma, podrás recurrir a él desde cualquier ruta.
